Common Clothes Moth

Norfolk status
Formerly the most abundant clothes moth, but now outnumbered by Case-bearing Clothes Moth Tinea pellionella.

Larvae feed on woollen clothing, upholstery and carpets,

At one time a pest species. Its decline is probably due to the increase in use of man-made fibres and the much drier atmosphere created by central heating. However, reports are once again on the increase with several records in recent years.

First Recorded in 1874.
