Norfolk status Uncertain. Common in ditches, marshes, river-banks, water meadows and damp moorland throughout much of Britain.
Distinctive larvae feed in June/July on the flowers and seeds of Water-dropwort / Hemlock Water-dropwort (Oenanthe spp.) in a tough silken spinning.
New to Norfolk in 2021 when two larvae were found feeding on the flowers of Hemlock Water-dropwort (Oenanthe crocata) at Wheatfen 22/06/2021. The larvae were near full-grown and bred through to adult on 12/07/2021. (Kevin Radley, Hannah Breach)
