Should be found anywhere where substantial stands of aspen are found. Look for mines in autumn time.

Records from Mousehold Heath, Icklingham and Wayland Wood.

Mines found at Weeting in 2013 are thought to be the first documented record of this species feeding on Grey poplar Populus canescens. (Ian Barton and Kathleen Rosewarne)
