Norfolk status
Locally widespread.
Metallic bronzy green with purple sheen at apex of forewing.

One of four very similar Coleophora species found in Norfolk -
Coleophora alcyonipennella, Coleophora deauratella, Coleophora mayrella, Coleophora trifolii

Antennae dark with a white tip, not thickly clothed with scales at base, and not ringed.

Please note: Coleophora frischella is not thought to occur in Norfolk.


[MBGBI vol3 inadvertently merged two valid species Coleophora alcyonipennella (517) and C. frischella (517a).
Both species have been recognised from the British Isles (specimen in BMNH from 1850 has been re-determined as C. frischella). C. frischella has only been recorded a handful of times from the west of Britain.]

Case: A good quality photo or specimen of the case and plant/pabulum and the bred moth is required.
