Norfolk status
Adventive species, now resident in Norfolk.
Native to Australia and New Zealand, this adventive moth was first recorded in the UK in Dorset August 2009, thought imported with ferns as a result of the horticultural trade.
It has since spread widely, with multiple sightings from other sites in southern England.

The larvae feed on various ferns such as Bracken.

New for Norfolk in May 2020 when an adult moth was netted at Horsford woods (A. Starace, 23/05/2020) Further specimens trapped in a nearby garden at Horsford (M. McCarthy, 21/10/2020) and three at Hevingham Park (A. Brown and S. Lane, 02/11/2020) Last but not least a November record at Hindolveston (M. Nash, 07/11/2020.)
Several records in subsequent years, with an established colony now at Horsford and probably other locations in Norfolk.

First for VC28 in 2022 at Great Ryburgh (R.Ward, 22/10/22)

(aka: Fern China-mark)

Recorded in 48 (65%) of 74 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2020.
Last Recorded in 2024.
