Status Local, widespread. Wet bogs and acid heaths. Adult can be obtained by sweeping the foodplant.
This species is one of four Elachista species, E. scirpi, E. eleochariella, E. utonella and E. albidella that unless a near perfect specimen is available cannot reliably be identified without genitalia dissection.
Recent records from several locations in Norfolk.
