Characteristic small size makes this moth unmistakable within the genus.
Flies actively over heather in afternoon sunshine and again at sunrise.
(Sweeping heather with a net is the easiest way to obtain both adults and larvae)

Larval cases closely resemble sprigs of heather (best found by sweeping April - May)
