Status Heathland and open woodland where scattered birch trees found.
Like many of the Coleophora, adults are virtually impossible to identify without recourse to dissection.
Leaf-mine: August to September, with some larvae developing more slowly, and feeding again in April and May. The final case is fixed at right angles to leaf surface, with a serrated keel.
