A large distinctive clearwing species unlike any other.
Wet woodland, broad-leaved woodland, river valleys where Aspen and Poplar grows.
Formerly considered extinct in the British Isles until 2021. In 2023, with the increased use of the TAB pheromone lure, it was found in several counties including multiple sites in neighbouring Suffolk (including Lakenheath NNR) and Cambridgeshire fens.
First for Norfolk in 2023 at Lower Hellesdon, Norwich (VC27) to TAB lure (L. King, 11/07/23) and at Upwell (VC28) in 2024 (J. Wheeler, 29/06/24)
