Migrant and new Norfolk resident.

Very similar to Caloptilia hemidactylella. This species will require confirmation by Gen. Det.

It is now regarded that all Acer feeding caloptilia species require dissection to separate yellow banded summer broods. [C.W. Plant (2022) Ent. Rec. 134]

First British record taken in Surrey in 2017, with the second during April 2019 in Kent. The third British record was taken in Suffolk during September 2019.

New for Norfolk in 2020 trapped by Louis Parkerson at West Runton on 30/08/2020 (Gen. Det. Female. James McCulloch identified by Graeme Smith) A rather atypical specimen in appearance occurring on a night no other migrants were trapped.

Leaf-mine: Silvery blotch on the upperside of the leaf, often with many diverticula. It then forms cones in the lobes.

Determination by Genitalia Examination Required

Mine: Moth needs to be reared and, in some cases, possibly dissected.
