Status
Rare immigrant to Britain only recorded around 20 times. The first recorded British specimen was taken at Yarmouth in June 1839. One in 1892 outside Norwich and on the St. Nicholas lightship moored off Gorleston in 1938!

"A very beautiful specimen of Noctua perspicillaris, now in my collection, was taken two years ago in a garden in this town, at the end of the month of June." C.J. Paget. Yarmouth, 1841. [Ent. 1. 128. (1840-1842)]

Recorded at Eccles on Sea - 7th Aug 1997 and again at the same site on 26th May 2018! (N. Bowman)
