Status Rare migrant from the Mediterranean and North Africa, with around 100 UK records in the last Century... until 2022!
New for Norfolk in 2014 when an adult was flushed from some sandy turf at Burnham Overy Dunes and photographed. (J. Lowen, T. Stuart, 18/10/2014)
In 2022 a huge UK influx resulted in the first East Norfolk VC27 records on 28/10/22 at Spalla Gap, Weybourne (J. McCallum) and on 29/10/22 at Caister (P. Saggers) with at least two at Yarmouth North Denes (A. Musgrove.) The two specimens found at the North Denes were later twitched by many people, with at least three individuals seen, probably many more!
A remarkable 50+ specimens were recorded in neighbouring Suffolk during this huge influx. | Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required. | |
