Status Very rare immigrant from mainland Europe appearing as a migrant in south-eastern England. First recorded from a garden in Lydd, Kent on 13 July 1997. Since then there have been a number of records from neighbouring counties, with possible small breeding populations both in Kent and Suffolk, possibly now Norfolk.
Adult moths come to light. The larvae feed on the flowers of Scots Pine, living within a silken gallery amongst the young shoots.
