Common.
General ground colour and markings can vary from white to brownish/grey, making the markings obscure.
Can be easily separated from Gypsonoma sociana by the buff frons.
Widespread and common in open woodland throughout much of the British Isles. Well recorded in Norfolk from across the county.
Often recorded at the larval stage on various trees including Hazel, Hawthorn, Poplar and Sallow, feeding within buds and young shoots followed by spun leaves.
Leaf-mine: September - June.Recorded in 62 (84%) of 74 10k Squares.
