Status Very similar to other species of Eriocrania in adult stage, the beige/ochre head and thorax help identification.
Usually easier to record in the larval stage once feeding signs and larvae are familiarised.
Leaf-mine: Larvae occur in May and early June. The species is the latest of the birch-feeders with the exception of Eriocrania sparrmannella. Mines starting in the interior of the leaf, accumulation of frass showing where the mine has started.
