Open areas where the foodplant grows.
Overwinters as an egg.
Larva feed on the catkins of Black Poplar and other poplars inc Lombardy poplar.

Scattered Norfolk records from accross the county, including Weeting Heath. Recent West Norfolk Fenland records at Denver, Upwell and West Walton.

Recorded in 30 (41%) of 74 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1903.
Last Recorded in 2021.
