Norfolk status
Rare immigrant, probable future colonist.

First recorded in Britain from West Sussex in 1983, with increasing records in recent years, covering nearly every southern county by 2021!

Similar to the Flame Shoulder (O. plecta), but larger, has a clean straight costa and elongated forewings with smaller stigmata and whiter hindwings. Usually a much later flight period, but late examples of plecta do also occur.

Please also note similar European sub-species unimacula (see info below)

New for Norfolk in 2021 at Ridlington. (A. Mansfield, 28/10/21)
First for VC28 in 2023 on Blakeney Point (T. Blackburn, 05/10/23)
