Norfolk status Rare. Opinions vary as to whether Angle-barred Pug and Ash Pug are separate species or different forms of the same species using different foodplants. In the 2000 version of the British list, Ash Pug is recorded as a form E. innotata f. fraxinata. There is also a view that Angle-barred Pug does not occur in this country, and that they are all forms of Ash Pug.
G. Haggett (1963) published a detailed review and concluded that all supposed British records of E. innotata (Angle-barred Pug) should not be regarded as distinct from E. fraxinata (Ash Pug). Riley - [BAIPM]
