Norfolk status
Scarce.
Very similar to Common Marbled Carpet.
Subtle separation characteristics are based on the shape of the postmedian line on the underwing, which is more angular in this species.

Like all moths that overwinter as an egg, Dark Marbled Carpet has one brood per year. Adults typically fly in July and August, there just isn't time for overwintering eggs to produce moths in May and early June! Dark Marbled Carpet also has no equivalent of the Common Marbled Carpet form with an orange/yellow central area.
