Resident in wetlands of West Norfolk during the 19th Century, prior to drainage operations. Old records from the former Stoke Ferry Fen which was destroyed by the building of the town bypass. Silver Barred was found breeding in this area up to circa 1949, now presumed locally extinct.
C. Barrett - Lepidoptera of the British Islands, Vol 6, 1900: Stevens (Illust. 3, 118): "Mr Haworth found a considerable number of specimens in Norfolk, I believe near Beachamwell, amongst reeds and rushes in a boggy situation, and kindly supplied me with specimens."
