Norfolk status Nationally Rare resident in Britain. Locally well recorded in Norfolk Broadland fen habitats where it appears to prefer wetter more open areas.
When Stephens wrote about the insect in 1829 only two specimens had then occurred in Britain, and these had been found in a marsh at Horning, floating upon the water in a ditch.
Presumed migrant/wanderer recorded new for VC28 in 2015 at Holme Dunes (NOA, 03/07/15) and another unusual inland record at Great Cressingham in 2018 (C.McGaw, 08/07/18)
