Norfolk status
Well distributed and abundant. Extremely common, in woodland, parks and gardens throughout much of the British Isles.
As its English name suggests, this moth occurs from late autumn through to January or February.

Females are virtually wingless, and crawl up tree-trunks to await the arrival of males.

The larvae can occur in great numbers, reaching pest status in some areas.
