Farren (1926) writes of C. orichalcea "one of the most beautiful of British moths was first taken in this country at Wicken by the late Thomas Brown. About the same time my father took two in the New Forest, and later Lord Walsingham, then the Hon Thomas de Grey, found it at Merton in Norfolk."
