Norfolk status
Local, widespread.
Distinctive large Coleophoridae.
Adults on the wing by day in the afternoon as well as after dark.
Larva feeds on Wild Thyme, living and feeding in a movable case.

Similar to Coleophora tricolor, antennae white on upper-side and only barred/ringed on the underside, also lacking the long brown basal tuft seen in C. tricolor.

Old VC28 records, plus a few modern-day records including Hindolveston (J.Clifton, 2010 - New for VC27), Sheringham and Holt in 2012 and at Lynford in 2013. More frequently recorded in recent years.

Verification Grade Comment: Adult: If photos, all complex antennal differences to exclude C. tricolor must be visible

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Case: A good quality photo or specimen of the case and plant/pabulum and the bred moth is required.
