Very similar to M. laevigella, but tends to have more prominent ochre spots on forewings. M. laevigella also has has slightly narrower more pointed wings.
Larvae known to feed on Fox faeces, animals carcasses such as rabbit and fox and possibly animal matter in birds' nests and dove-cotes.
