Status
Uncertain, increasingly recorded since first for Norfolk in 2017.

Formerly resident in parts of southern and central England, not observed since about 1900, and thought extinct in the UK. Recently rediscovered after over 100 years.

The species has two forms, a white winged form, similar to L. clerkella with the oval patch replaced by a pair of oblique fasciae and a form with a dark costa and a broad dark oblique fascia.

The larvae mine the leaves of various roseaceous trees, forming a gallery leading to a blotch. The pupal cocoon closely resembles that of L. clerkella.

New for Norfolk in 2017 when an adult moth was recorded at Catfield, found sitting on a piece of Prunus in a back hedge. (A. Beaumont, 01/09/2017)
It is thought this may be a possible migrant from the Netherlands.

New for VC28 in 2019. Mine found on Blackthorn at Great Cressingham (C. McGaw, 21/09/19)
