Norfolk status
Well distributed throughout the British Isles, abundant in conifer plantations.

A rare green form (f. prasinaria) has been recorded mainly in East Anglia, including Kent and Suffolk, and could be confused with Light Emerald, although Barred Red lacks the pointed hindwing and straighter fascia of that species. The grey-brown form (f. grisearia) is found frequently in the Midlands, northern England and parts of Scotland.
